Sabudana khichdi

Sabudana Khichdi – A dish made with sago/tapioca pearls! This vegan and gluten-free dish is extremely popular in India during the fasting season of Navratri.


Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp Oil

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 2 green chillies sliced

  • 1/2 cup peanuts

  • 1 cup cubed potatoes

  • 2 cups Saubdana/Tapioca balls (1:1 - soaked overnight with 2cups of water and drain well for 30 minutes)

  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp chopped curry leaves

  • salt to taste

  • 2 tsp chopped cilantro/coriander

Steps to cook:

  • Sauté peanuts, green chilli and small cubes potatoes one-by-one and once they are done put them aside.

  • Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Then add cumin and curry leaves.

  • Saute for a minute and then add overnight soaked sabudana.

  • Stir and saute until transparent. add sautéed chilli, peanut and potatoes.

  • Immediately remove from the heat. Squeeze in the lemon juice, add coriander leaves & pomegranate seed.

  • Mix the lemon juice lightly. This helps to release any sabudana stuck together.

  • Serve sabudana khichdi.
